Huawei Y7 (2018) is a budget segment smartphone with a spectacular appearance. The device has a scanner of prints, and also has a very low price. The official presentation of the mobile took place on March 28, 2018.

Appearance and ergonomics

Huawei Y7 (2018) is a particularly affordable phone, but still it looks very impressive. Thanks to the glossy plastic case, the device literally shimmers on a sunny day or with the lights on. The exception is black with a matte finish. At the same time the gloss actively collects prints.

The back of the smartphone has got a multifunctional fingerprint scanner, which can instantly remove the lock, or take pictures, activate the notification panel, switch photos and more. There is also a horizontal unit with a main camera and an LED flash. Nearby there is an additional microphone, and at the very bottom – a company logo. The front panel has a screen with medium indents. Below there is only a logo, and a speaker, a front camera and some sensors are located above the display.

The entire front side is covered with a 2.5D protective glass. The bottom end has got a micro USB connector, a headphone hole, a main microphone and a multimedia speaker. Moreover, the upper bound remains empty. All navigation buttons are virtual. The device is very convenient to use, since all elements have an optimal location. Available colors are: black, blue and gold. Dimensions: height – 158.3 mm, width – 76.7 mm, thickness – 7.8 mm, weight – 155 g.



The smartphone Y7 (2018) has a 5.99-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 by 720 pixels. The IPS matrix is ​​protected by 2.5D glass and film. The aspect ratio of the display is 18: 9. A high level of contrast has a positive effect on picture quality. The colors here are quite juicy. Calibration is quite normal. There is an eye protection function. There is an automatic brightness control, which works correctly. Color temperature can be adjusted independently.

It is possible to use the “smart” resolution. This feature will help save the remaining charge by automatically changing the display resolution. Detailed images, though not the highest, but for normal use is quite suitable. The maximum brightness is not the highest here, but the extremely low threshold allows you to read the text comfortably even in the dark.


Hardware and performance

Inside the Y7 (2018) is a Snapdragon 430 chip. This processor is based on the 28-nm process technology, and also includes eight Cortex-A53 cores. Its clock frequency is 1400 MHz. Here, the Adreno 505 graphics accelerator is used. The amount of RAM is 2 GB. The number of built-in storage for files is limited to 16 GB, but it is possible to install microSD cards up to 256 GB. Under the back cover is a battery, the capacity of which reaches 3000 mAh. This battery can withstand up to 6 hours in active mode, or 1-2 days when it comes to a balanced scenario of using a smartphone. Works gadget running the operating system Android 8.0. This OS is modified using EMUI 8.0 shell.

In the AnTuTu test, the device scores more than 60,000 points. For a budget smartphone this is an acceptable result. The speed of this model is quite high. Certain delays appear if you use several applications at the same time, or you run “heavy” content. This device can hardly be called gaming, but you can still play various toys. For example, Asphalt Extreme and PUBG Mobile function successfully, albeit at minimum graphic settings.

Communication and sound

In Huawei Y7 (2018) there is a fairly high-quality multimedia speaker. Let its maximum volume is not the highest, but the speaker does not wheeze. Vibration is felt almost in any situations. The sound in the headphones leaves a pleasant impression. Here Huawei Histen technology plays an important role. The required volume appears; the sound becomes more vibrant. At the same time, the equalizer allows you to easily adjust the sound at your discretion. There were no problems with the speaker during testing. The gadget received a built-in FM radio, NFC chip (albeit not in all versions), as well as Bluetooth 4.2.



For photographing in Huawei Y7 (2018), a 13-megapixel main camera with hybrid autofocus, LED flash and 2.2 aperture is provided. The pictures are of good quality if taken during the daytime. When light conditions deteriorate, noise and artifacts appear. It is necessary to praise the sensor for the correct color reproduction. Available settings are limited only by the most important functionality. Video is being recorded in Full HD resolution (30 frames per second).

On front there is an 8-megapixel camera, which is able to recognize the user’s face. There are so many different kinds of “decorations” that help to make self-portraits original and effective.


Huawei Y7 (2018) is the most inexpensive smartphone with decent features. This gadget is able to attract a really stylish look thanks to the glossy body.
