The beginning of March, the sub-brand Huawei Honor decided to mark the re-release of the updated version of last year’s smartphone slider. Novelty called Magic 2 3D.
The end of 2018 was marked by the release of several smartphones from different manufacturers in the slider form factor. Honor also had such a model – Magic 2. The device, in addition to the form factor, was remembered by a triple front camera with a main sensor of 16 megapixels and two auxiliary ones.
According to many analysts, just the selfie module has become a weakness of the novelty. The fact is that the built-in unlock function on the face scan worked on Magic 2 not always correctly. Especially in dark rooms. At the same time, in rare cases, the smartphone was experiencing overheating of the processor and minor throttling in games. It was over these shortcomings that the company’s engineers had to work on creating Magic 2 3D.
The hardware platform of the smartphone remained the same. The device is assembled on the basis of Kirin 980 with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. However, the cooling system has undergone some changes. So for the removal of heat is now used graphene tube. This made it possible to significantly increase the efficiency of heat dissipation and get rid of resetting the clock frequency of the CPU and GPU during long gaming sessions.
The selfie module has undergone a small but very important refinement. Instead of one of the auxiliary sensors, the company’s engineers installed a three-dimensional structured light analysis sensor. Thanks to this innovation, the quality of shooting and the response rate of the Face Unlock function have significantly increased in low light conditions.
Honor Magic 2 3D can be purchased in China for $ 865. Unfortunately, it is unknown whether the model will go global.
